Poverty Is Still Prevalent In Nigeria

Poverty is still prevalent in the country because many Nigerians lack the abilities to create wealth from intellectual property, Director General of National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), Dr Umar Bindir has said.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the commemoration of African Day for Technology and Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) in Abuja on Friday, Dr Bindir said Nigerians "are carrying billions of naira on their heads" but many of them lack the abilities to translate this into real wealth. The culture of translating intellectual property into finished products and services is very weak in the country, he said. "This is why poverty still sits among us," he added.
