Water scarcity
Again, some Abuja residents will have no water during the weekend.

Parts of Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, will have no water from Thursday evening till the Monday morning, an official has said.
The Senior Special Assistant to Bala Mohammed, the FCT Minister, Jamilah Tangaza, in a statement on Thursday, listed the areas that will experience the disruption in water supply as Area II, Garki I District, and the Central Business District.
She said the disruption is as a result of a final relocation of 1,000 mini-metre water supply pipeline that runs across Shehu Shagari way and the Inner Southern Expressway.
The Abuja Administration enjoined residents in the mentioned areas to reserve water that will last for the period of the water seizure.
Besides the disruption of water that will last three days and two nights, numerous parts of Abuja do not have pipe borne water.
Areas like Lugbe, parts of Apo, Jikwoyi, Kubwa and Galadimawa, have never had water provided by the Abuja administration.
The residents of these areas mostly dig bore holes, which are eventually detrimental to the environment, or depend on water vendors, known as Mairuwa.
Responding to the lack of water supply in these areas, a top official of the Abuja water board, who pleaded anonymity, said the trend would continue for the time being, as plans to supply water to areas like Lugbe and Kuje would take up to 15 years.
